Bourgeois Smokehouse, of Thibodaux, LA, is recalling approximately 100 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) smoked andouille sausage products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, according to an announcement by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The issue was discovered after FSIS conducted routine product testing on the RTE andouille sausage, confirming the presence of Listeria monocytogenes.
The RTE smoked andouille sausage was produced on May 12, 2025, and was weighed, wrapped, and labeled in-store at the time of purchase.
These products do not bear an establishment number or the USDA mark of inspection due to in-store packaging.
They were shipped to Rouses Market retail locations in Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi and have been available for purchase since May 13, 2025.
As of the recall announcement, no confirmed reports of adverse reactions have been linked to these products.
Consumers are urged not to consume these products and should either discard them or return them to the place of purchase. Those concerned about potential illness should contact a healthcare provider.
